Markos Papakonstantis is Assistant Professor of European Law at at the Department of Public Administration of Panteion University. He is a lawyer as a member of the Athens Bar Association. Born in Athens, he has studied Law at the Faculty of Law of the Democritus University of Thrace, European Law (DEA) at the European University Centre of Nancy. He has a PhD in the European Law from the Nancy 2 University in France.

His scientific and research interests are mainly focused on European Law and the European “Area of Freedom, Security and Justice” (Schengen area, internal security and the fundamental rights of persons, free movement of persons, management of the external borders, asylum policy, immigration policy, judicial cooperation). He has published three books and a numerous papers on European Law. 

He teaches European Law, EU policies, area of freedom, security and justice, the four freedoms of the EU and European tax law.
